Weathering the Material Storm

For over 6 months now, we have been working to weather the building material storm.  Back in July, we told you about the skyrocketing lumber prices our industry was facing, and are now seeing those same challenges spread through the entire building material supply chains.  Our hope was that these prices would start to level out and even decline in the new year, but unfortunately the opposite has happened.  As we round out the first month of 2021, we are still seeing prices rise, supply shortages and longer lead times.

According to Lezzer Lumber, our primary material supplier, lumber prices remain on the rise.  Similar increases are also seen across the board in other specialty materials including: drywall (+20%), doors (+10-14%), windows (+6%), cabinets (+6%) railings (+7-10%) and decking (+2-4%).

The increases stem from a number of factors, including continued demand from builders, fires on the West Coast that have destroyed inventory and COVID-19 related mill and manufacturer closures.

We give you this information, not to scare you, but to educate you and to be upfront and honest about the challenges our industry continues to face.

But now for the good news… WE CAN HELP!

When you are requesting and/or comparing quotes, we want you to understand the market and not feel a sense of sticker shock.  We are here to guide you through the process, so you don’t have to put that dream build on hold.  We just ask that you be patient with us while we work closely with our vendors and suppliers to minimize disruptions while also reducing the impact to your project budget.

If you’re looking for a post frame builder that will deliver the honesty, integrity and value you deserve, contact us.  We look forward to discussing your project!
