Project Summary: A Two-Story Post Frame Garage
Our team recently completed a stylish two-story post frame garage project that extended our client’s living space. Not only is this garage functional, its carriage house style complements the owner’s home and looks beautiful inside and out!
As an accomplished post-frame garage builder, we’ve designed a variety of garages and storage buildings for vehicles, storage, in-laws quarters and more. Keep reading to see what made this particular project unique.
This project began when our clients realized their home was quickly crowded anytime they hosted overnight guests – which could be for 2-3 weeks at a time when family flew in from the West Coast. After contacting us, we worked together to design a two-story garage that was the perfect blend of extra living and storage space. It was also important to our clients that the garage match their existing home and shed in color and style.
With a location already in mind, we came up with a floor plan that was functional and cost effective. Our clients were detail oriented and wanted to add a fireplace and complete living space with a fireplace, two bedrooms, full size closets, along with a laundry room and full bath.
The resulting structure featured the following:
- 1280 square feet of living space
- 14’ x 28’ open ceiling great room with loft
- Two bay oversized garage with arched overhead doors
- 4’ x 14’ covered front porch
- 1st floor living area with stone fireplace
- Kitchen & powder room on 1st floor
- Large TV/sitting area on 2nd floor
- Two bedrooms with closets and full bath on 2nd floor
- 2nd floor laundry area
Our clients absolutely loved the new garage and the space that it provides for guests and family when they come to visit. They’ve also begun planning to rent the garage apartment through AirBnB to make some extra income when the living space is not occupied.
